Day 20: Table Tops
Not a single flat surface in the house is immune from being the dumping ground for clutter. Whether its the children’s school work or junk mail, or a million other items that pass through the house on any given day, it all lands onto one of the flat surfaces – more often than not the kitchen counter or our dining table.
- Put stuff away! That may sound too easy, but its true. File the mail instead of leaving it out. Have the children put their school work away. Get rid of the random papers and stuff that gets left on every flat surface in your home. If you don’t need/want the item then donate it, sell it, or throw it away!
- Clean your table tops and the items that are left on them. If there are too many items to clean, repeat step 1 so that you can eliminate clutter or relocate the things you need to where they will serve you better.
- Each night, after dinner, take a few moments to put everything away and give your tables a quick wipe down. Soon this will become your after dinner habit, or possibly after every meal habit.
Set your timer, and give yourself 10 minutes to work on decluttering your counters and living more simply with less clutter taking over your life, and your home.
