Homeschool Goals

By Stephanie Leave a Comment

I love homeschooling, but there are several things I know I can do better, and it has become my goal to improve our homeschool experience.

At the start of January, as I was reflecting on my goals for the various facets of our life, homeschooling was a primary focus. We currently homeschool our three children who are 5-11 years old. I know they won't be little forever, but I want to enjoy them as much as I can during this season of our lives. Homeschooling is one way I get to do that. By Stephanie Leave a Comment

While professional development is not required, it is something we should consider doing as homeschoolers.

When I was a classroom teacher, we needed to complete 100 hours of professional development over the course of five years.  So on average, about 20 hours a year.  During that time, I took courses on differentiating instruction, teaching writing, guided reading, developmental spelling, and Everyday Math.  I spent hours upon hours writing a literature-based Social Studies curriculum.  I attended faculty meetings, teaching conventions, and workshops offered throughout the region.  I read books and ...

Some of your favorite stores and sharing the love and appreciation for teachers, educators, and homeschoolers this August during their Back-to-School season.

Your favorite stores are showing the love at their teacher appreciation events this August for classroom teachers and homeschoolers. I know some of the brick and mortar schools are already back in session.  Up here they go back somewhere between the last week of August and the week after Labor Day.  Homeschooling is a whole other ballgame.  But one thing teachers and homeschoolers alike need to know about is Teacher Appreciation Days! ...
