The easiest way to incorporate essential oils into your bedtime routine is with a diffuser. Check out these essential oil diffuser blends to get started.

How’d you sleep?

As someone who deals with insomnia combined with children waking me up in the middle of the night, my usual response was “meh”.  I had many friends recommend various supplements or essential oils as a natural way to help me get some much-needed rest.  I liked the idea of using a natural product versus taking a pill to knock me out, so I figured it was worth a try.

Using essential oils during your bedtime routine is an all-natural alternative worth trying.  I liked how using certain blends of essential oils promoted a more relaxed state of mind.  A more relaxed body and mind meant that I was able to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Since we are all different, and what works for me won’t necessarily work for you, be willing to try out different essential oils during your bedtime routine.

The easiest way for me to incorporate essential oils into my bedtime routine was with a diffuser.  I have an ArtNaturals diffuser, and I love it!  It’s inexpensive, has an automatic shutoff, and 1-hour & 3-hour settings.  I usually set up my diffuser at bedtime, set it for the 3-hour interval, and it turns off while I sleep.

Shopping List

Our family only uses Plant Therapy Essential Oils.  They are amazing quality oils at reasonable prices.  The following link to the exact variety of each oil that I have.

Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Roman Chamomile, Sweet Orange, Tea Tree, and Ylang Ylang.

If you would like to purchase a set of oils instead of individual bottles, I recommend either the Top 14 Singles Set (it does not include all of the oils for these formulas) or the Top 32 Essential Oils Set (which has everything you need & so much more – this is what I invested in recently).

Different blends of essential oils can have different results and work to support various systems in your body.  The following diffuser formulas are a few of my personal favorites, and I’m certain you’ll find one that works for you as well.

Dreamland

4 Lavender
2 Clary Sage
1 Roman Chamomile
1 Ylang Ylang

Night Night

3 Cedarwood
3 Eucalyptus
3 Frankincense
3 Sweet Orange

Sweetest Slumber

4 Sweet Orange
4 Lavender
2 Frankincense
2 Peppermint

Bedtime Relaxation

3 Cedarwood
2 Sweet Orange
2 Roman Chamomile

Sleep

3 Lemon
3 Eucalyptus
2 Lavender
2 Tea Tree

The above are a few of my favorite combinations for bedtime, and they are ones that my husband can tolerate as well.  If you are married, or share a space with someone, you may want to test out a diffuser formula before bedtime to make sure it is something you both are ok with so using your essential oils will be a positive experience.

Traditionally, I use lavender for bedtime but I like the idea of blends. Thanks for the suggestions! As someone who also struggles with insomnia, I am open to trying new ones.
