Cleaning bathrooms is my least favorite household task. The room that needs to be cleaned most often … the bathroom.
No matter how much we dislike cleaning bathrooms it is a task that each of us has to endure.
I do not have the luxury of hiring out for this task, but I do delegate it to the children as often as I can. I want this to be a chore that they learn to do correctly. While I will give a pass to how they fold laundry or set a table, cleaning a bathroom properly is an important life skill.
It’s important to have the right tool for the job. Cleaning supplies are your tools for a clean bathroom, so invest in the good ones so you don’t have to waste money or time.
Here are 5 items I use to make cleaning the bathrooms easier and more efficient.
Norwex Basic Package – Window Cloth & EnviroCloth
You can purchase the Window Cloth and EnviroCloth as a set or separately depending on what you need. If you are just starting with Norwex products, I highly recommend the set. You can clean most of your home with just these two cloths and water! That’s it!
The Window Cloth is great for wiping the steam from your mirrors after a shower and leaving a streak-free finish. You can also use it to clean your windows and shine your faucets and handles using only water.
The EnviroCloth is the workhorse. Use it wet, damp, or dry on most surfaces to make quick work of any and all messes.
Norwex Superior Mop
The Norwex Superior Mop was my introduction to Norwex products. It got me to give up my Swiffer. Now I can mop the floors dry or use just water. No stinky chemicals to bother my sinuses (I am very sensitive to fragrances and cleaning products). Norwex products have microsilver in them making them anti-bacterial and anti-microbial, so they are a little more of an investment but worth it compared to the copycats that are out there. The best part is that the mop pads can go right in the regular washing machine and are good for years! The mop handle is adjustable so you can make it a comfortable height for any member of your family.
Norwex products are an investment so don’t fall for copycats. Norwex products contain micro-silver called BacLock which is an antimicrobial agent solely intended to protect and self-clean the cloth by inhibiting the growth of odor- and stain-causing bacteria, mold and mildew. BacLock has been third-party tested and you can learn more here.
Shark Steam Mop
If you have hardwood, marble, tile, stone, linoleum, vinyl, or laminate flooring you can use a steam mop. I always disliked schlepping a bucket and mop to clean the bathroom floors. Having a steam mop is more compact, less messy, and goes so much faster! Even the kids can use it which is a huge win in my book.
Squeegee
If you have shower doors, you really need a squeegee. Taking a few seconds after your shower to remove the excess water from the shower doors will save you an abundance of time when it comes to actually cleaning the shower.
Electric Spin Scrubber
This electric spin scrubber is wonderful for cleaning the tiles and shower/tub enclosure. I no longer have to use a scrub brush and elbow grease to get the job done. Just put the scrub head on the extension arm and push a button. Voila!
As I mentioned, I have a sensitivity to strong smells and synthetic fragrances. There are many cleaning products on the market that I used to use, but no longer can as a result. I now make many of my own products that are non-toxic but still do the trick. Many of the formulas that I use can be found in Detox Your Home by Sara McFall of My Merry Messy Life.
