Sometimes you want a treat that is rich and decadent, and that’s exactly what you get with these delicious 7 Layer Bars. They’re the perfect blend of cookie & candy bar.
My children like every type of cookie and bar you put in front of them. Sometimes, they eat all the treats before I even get one! That’s when I make these delicious 7 Layer Bars. You see, my boys aren’t fond of coconut, so that means these are just for me and my daughter.
What are the 7 Layers?
- Graham Cracker Crumbs
- Butter
- Butterscotch Chips
- Dark Chocolate Chips
- Pecans
- Coconut
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
Ok, so once you mix the graham cracker crumbs with the butter its more like six layer bars, but I’m not the one who named them. This recipe has been on a scrap of paper in my mom’s recipe box for years. I only tweaked it to have more of the things I love.
Want to make getting these out of the pan even easier? Try a 9×13 baking tray with a removable bottom! This pan is amazing!
7 Layer Bars
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 12 oz bag dark chocolate chips
- 12 oz bag butterscotch chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 1/2 cups shredded coconut
- 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350.
-
Line a 9x13 baking pan with parchment.
-
Combine your graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Stir until well coated. Pour into your prepared pan and press down.
-
Layer chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, nuts, and coconut over crumbs. Pour condensed milk over the entire thing.
-
Bake until edges are golden brown and the coconut is lightly toasted, about 25-35 minutes.
-
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then use the parchment paper to lift the bars out of the pan and onto a cooling rack.
-
Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Before my children were born, there were times I did eat them all because my husband doesn’t eat coconut. Sometimes, it’s nice to have treats just for us!
