Here are our favorite Christmas movies as voted on by the members of my family. Did your favorites make the list? Any we should check out?
There is a big debate in our house about what makes the best Christmas movie. Is it nostalgia? Is it a favorite actor? Maybe it’s the fact that stuff gets destroyed and blown up while a Christmas song plays in the background.
According to the Kids
Our children range in age from 10-16 years old. Hands down, their absolute favorite Christmas movie is Prep & Landing. It is the first Christmas movie we watch each year, and they always start asking for it as soon as we finish up with Thanksgiving. It doesn’t matter how old they get, it’s not Christmas until we’ve watched Prep & Landing.
Their other favorites:
According to Mom
My favorite Christmas movies are the classics. I love It’s A Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street. But I also really like the cartoons from my childhood. It just wasn’t Christmas without watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
A few other favorites from my childhood (not exactly classics, but I still love them):
How The Grinch Who Stole Christmas
According to Dad
Steve watches most of the Christmas movies with us during our family movie nights. However, if given the chance to choose the movie, it needs to wait for the kids to be in bed. His top two choices: Die Hard (How is this a Christmas movie?) and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. He also votes for the annual Doctor Who Christmas Special, which happens to be one of my favorite Christmas traditions as well.
So there you have it. Our family’s favorite Christmas movies. Have any of your favorites made the list? Any you think we should check out?

Yes, it’s not Christmas w/o the Peanuts! 🙂 I also watch Christmas Carol with Allistair Sims every year on Christmas Eve. Another good Christmas movie is “The Holly and the Ivy”, if you’re enjoy the more sentimental-type movies. Thanks for a fun share!

Thank you for the movie suggestion. I’ll have to check it out.
