In another week, we will begin our fourth year of homeschooling. During that time, my older two children have been homeschooled through Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA), and we have been so very grateful for that resource. However, I now have a four-year-old, and he has been asking to be homeschooled for over a year! Since CCA does not have a pre-K program, I will be creating our own homeschool program for him this year and am looking for some easy preschool ideas and weekly themes. I never thought I would teach preschool, let alone homeschool preschool! It’s a little scary but so much fun at the same time.
One of the things I loved about the preschool my older children went to was the weekly and monthly themes that pulled all of their lessons, stories, and activities together. Everything from a handprint turkey to a cotton ball bunny to build on the weekly themes.
This is something I wanted to replicate in our homeschool for my youngest, but to also incorporate the themes with my older children whenever possible.
While I am calling this a list of preschool themes, these ideas can work for any age group from homeschool preschool to any grade in traditional brick & mortar schools. These themes may also be a good jumping-off point for Morning Meeting even in the upper elementary grades.
