Cake Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups AP flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup half & half can sub milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 large eggs – beaten
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg. Make a well in the center, and add all of the liquid ingredients. Stir to combine.
  2. Cover the dough, and put it in the fridge for 2 hours, or overnight if you want fresh doughnuts in the morning.
  3. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, and roll to 1/2″ thickness. Using a doughnut cutter, cut all of your doughnuts. Chill until ready to cook.
  4. Heat your oil to 375. Then, in small batches, cook your doughnuts for 1 min per side. Remove with a spider strainer, and allow to drain.
  5. Toss warm doughnuts in powdered sugar, granulated sugar, or cinnamon sugar, or enjoy them plain.
