All I want is a quiet week, and I have no idea when I’m actually going to get one. Maybe sometime in July. Until then, I will continue to plan meals around the various activities and events we have going on – and this week there are a lot of them: Garden Tour on Tuesday, Girl Scout planning meeting on Wednesday, lunch with my mother in law on Thursday, my youngest son’s birthday on Friday and his party on Saturday, and recovering from the week on Sunday. In addition, my children are participating in a science program at the library 4 days this week, and my dad will be in town from Wednesday to Saturday and we want to find a time to meet up as well since I haven’t seen him in 3 years (but thankfully, he is moving back to the area in a few weeks so all of that will soon change).
So as I look at the schedule and try not to get overwhelmed, I know the one thing I can control is meal time …
Weekly Meal Plan: June 20-26
Tonight (Monday) we are having steaks, shrimp, & veggies all cooked on the grill. We didn’t get to cook out for Father’s Day yesterday, so we are doing it tonight instead.
Tuesday – Grilled Chicken & Shrimp Kabobs
Wednesday – Dr Pepper BBQ Chicken, Salad, & Corn Bread
Thursday – Pasta of some variety, Salad, & Garlic Bread
Friday – It’s my youngest son’s birthday so he gets to decide what we are having for dinner. I have a feeling it will involve bacon, but he hasn’t told me what he wants yet besides cake.
Saturday – Grilled Chicken, Salad, Baked Potatoes
Beyond the Meal Plan
I am making my son a giant cookie for on his actual birthday and a Frozen inspired cake (or possibly cupcakes) featuring Olaf for his party.
We are also completely out of jam … well, I have a few jars of raspberry jam left but the kids don’t like the seeds, so I need to make jam at some point this week, and I only have enough cheese for 3 days of grilled cheese sandwiches before we run out of that too.
I would also like to make homemade breakfast sausage and a few loaves of banana bread this week, but I need to figure out when I would have the time to do it with everything else that is going on.
The reality is, as long as everyone is fed each day we should be good, and I shouldn’t stress about what is on the table at meal time when the week is as busy as this one, but in an effort to not have takeout, we do what we must do.
What’s on your menu plan for this week?
