This week’s menu will look different than most of the ones we’ve had in the past. Some may even consider it a bit boring with repeat meals, but with the high temperatures, and desire to eat well, sometimes you have boring weeks, and that is ok! It is all food that my family enjoys, we just aren’t trying any new recipes this week. By keeping it simple, getting dinner on the table will be a breeze, and I know we will all be eating better as well.
Over the last week, I’ve watched several food documentaries, including Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, and really started to think about what our family eats. I always make sure my children have a variety of fruits and vegetables available to them. However, I have not been real good about eating them myself.
This week, I’ve decided to reboot my nutrition. Some may call it a detox or a cleanse. I don’t like those terms. I’m just rebooting my body by eating real foods, cooked simply, with minimal processing. My hope is that by doing this for a week, the cravings and headaches will go away, and I will start feeling better overall.
Weekly Meal Plan
I’m having smoothies made with a combination of fresh fruits each morning, along with my cup of tea. The children are having smoothies, yogurt, or cereal bars.
Lentil Soup for me
PB&J, Grilled Cheese, or Lentil Soup for the kids along with more fresh fruit and veggies.
Grilled Chicken, Baked Potatoes or Rice, Veggies
Grilled Salmon, Rice, Veggies
Beyond the Menu Plan
The garden is starting to ramp up productivity. I will be breaking down zucchini for the freezer and tomatoes for canning, through out the week. I’m also hoping to make a batch of banana bread if we have a cool morning where running the oven doesn’t bother me.
