Last Week’s Frugal Accomplishments
Last week was very busy, and there were numerous opportunities to go off track with our spending, but for the most part, things went really well. The highlight of the week was Saturday morning when my husband and I sat down to discuss our finances since we had yet to use our tax return, and instead of indulging in the right now, we opted for paying off 2 credit cards and coming up with a plan to pay off the remaining cards. We both had a huge sense of relief following our discussion, and I really feel like we are on the right track for the first time in a long time, which is amazing since I lost my job only 2 short months ago.
We ate from our pantry and freezer over the last week. With so many leftovers from Easter brunch, it was super easy!
I bartered sewing Boy Scout patches on my friend’s son’s uniform for a case of canning jars. My friends know me so well!
I started bell pepper and chili pepper seeds indoors. Soon, I will need to plant these seedlings outside since most of my plants are starting to get quite large.
My little green house that I kept on the back porch was destroyed by the recent wind storm. When I purchased it several years ago, it was $45, and was about the size of a small bookshelf. I purchase a new green house that is much larger, for under $70! I can’t wait to get it set up!
I used craft supplies that we have had donated to our Girl Scout troop to plan a fun afternoon for my Girl Scout Daisy Troop. By using the donations, and asking local businesses if they offered a discount to Girl Scout leaders, we have saved over $220 just in supplies for today’s event!
