I am trying very hard to curb my spending this month. Luckily, I have several other friends who are on a similar mission to live on less, so we are all being very supportive of one another. It makes the journey into frugality all that much easier when you surround yourself with like minded people.
Last Week’s Frugal Accomplishments
We stuck to the menu plan! It was a very loose menu plan, but we stuck to it. I cooked at home all week, and made meals that would stretch for multiple days. It was wonderful.
We ate broccoli from our garden – surprisingly we are still getting a few florets to harvest even though its January! I love it!
ShopRite is still having their CanCan sale. The one vegetable I don’t can/freeze is corn, so I stocked up. We now have about 45 cans in the pantry, which should last us until summer when we can start getting corn on the cob again.
I shopped at Aldi to fill in the gaps of what we needed to have on hand. They have the cheapest price on eggs -only $1.49/dz, and this week they have Avocados for 69 cents a piece, and bananas for 29 cents/lb. I stocked up so I can freeze some for future use.
I planted a salad garden. I mixed-up all of the leftover lettuce, spinach, and kale seed that I have from several years ago, and densely seeded a portion of our front yard garden that gets a lot of sun. If the weather continues to be mild, I should have some lovely salad greens in a few weeks. I will be getting new seed from the co-op at the end of the month.
I signed up for a few free ecourses and ebooks on budgeting.
I watched shows on Hulu & Netflix. I even had a movie night at home with the kids thanks to Netflix.
