Last Week’s Frugal Accomplishments
I sold a bunch of my children’s outgrown clothes and toys at a local consignment sale. I also shopped the pre-sale and again during the 50% off sale and bought a ton of stuff for very little money. A few of my favorite finds – a slip n’ slide for $4; math flash cards for 75¢; and a toy stove for $2. I was also able to get each of the children 3-5 pairs of shorts and 5+ shirts. I even found a few adorable casual dresses for my daughter since she prefers dresses to anything else, and these are all cotton knit, so they can handle her playing in the yard. All total I spent less than $100, and it looks like I made more than that by being a consignor! I love when we come out ahead.
We purchased a side of beef from Bringhurst Meats for $3.16/lb. This filled our freezer with approximately 355 pounds of beef, and we are now set for the upcoming year.
At Christmas time, I was given a gift certificate for The Picket Fence & Garden Tea Room in Haddonfield, NJ. Yesterday, my mom, aunt, and I got to go there and have lunch. It was a great ladies afternoon out! I look forward to going back, and possibly bringing my daughter with me the next time. She would love it there!
I went to Joann Fabrics to purchase fabric for a sewing project that I have been pondering. I used a 40% off items coupon and a 15% off purchase coupon to get the fabric and thread for about $13.
I printed coupons for kitty litter, laundry detergent, and paper products for when I go grocery shopping this week.
We purchased a small green house that goes on our raised garden bed. This was half the cost of purchasing a cold frame, and essentially it will do the same thing – warm up a portion of the garden so that we can plant sooner which means homegrown produce sooner. A savings in the long run.
