Last Week’s Frugal Accomplishments
We have been eating from our pantry, and focusing on not buying any groceries other than bread and milk. We’ve had some creative meals, but we’ve been able to eat and home which is the most important part.
Yesterday, I ran a Cake Decorating badge workshop for Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts. Amazon had some amazing deals saving our troop a lot of money – Wilton Cupcake Decorating Kits, Wilton decorator icing, and white paper bags were all quite a bit less than buying them in the local craft stores.
This time of year, there are lots of leaves falling from the trees. While mowing the lawn, we bagged the grass and leaf clippings and added them to the compost pile. This fall, they are a pile of clippings. In the spring, they will be a great layer of compost for in our garden beds. Having a bagging mower makes quick work of the yard … Having 3 children who are willing to help and are pretty good with a garden cart makes it go even faster.
I returned several items that I had purchased, but didn’t end up needing.
My son wanted me to make his costume this year, so we’ve been purchasing the supplies from Joann Fabrics with various coupons. With the coupons, we were able to get all of the supplies for under $20! Its hard to purchase a Halloween costume that inexpensively.
