Your favorite stores are showing the love at their teacher appreciation events this August for classroom teachers and homeschoolers.

Some of your favorite stores and sharing the love and appreciation for teachers, educators, and homeschoolers this August during their Back-to-School season.

I know some of the brick and mortar schools are already back in session.  Up here they go back somewhere between the last week of August and the week after Labor Day.  Homeschooling is a whole other ballgame.  But one thing teachers and homeschoolers alike need to know about is Teacher Appreciation Days!

ID Needed

Homeschoolers and teachers both need to show ID to participate in the various teacher appreciation events and sales.  For educators who work in a brick & mortar school, that means your school ID or a paystub.  Home educators can often show a copy of their affidavit, membership card for a homeschool organization, or make your own homeschool ID card.

If you are already enroled in the educators shopping club at a particular business, showing that physical card (not the barcode on your phone) will often count as ID confirming you are an educator.

Teacher Appreciation Deals & Special Events

Barnes & Noble – Barnes & Noble has an Educators program where you will receive 20% off your purchase of educational materials throughout the year.  Every Saturday & Sunday in August you can save 25% on books, games, toys, and more!  Unlike the rest of the year, on these special days, you can save 10% in the cafe or on other food purchases.

Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft – Jo-Ann Fabrics changed their educator discount program recently and it is now an additional feature on their app.  You can save 15% on everything you buy, including sale and clearance items.  During special teacher appreciation events, you can save 25% on your total purchase.

Staples – During the month of August, Staples will host teacher appreciation events around the country.  Attend your local event and receive a tote with samples and coupons.  There is often a one-day shopping pass as well.  Check your local store to see when they are hosting an event.

Michael’s – Show your ID and save 15% on your total purchase of regular price and sale items every day.  Stores are holding special events for educators throughout the month of August. These events include teacher-only drawings for Michael’s gift cards! Be sure to contact your local store for specifics.

AC Moore – Everyday you can save 15% on regular price and sale items.  You can’t combine the discount with other discounts or coupons.  You can find all of the details on their website.

OfficeMax/Office Depot – Join the rewards program at your local OfficeMax/Office Depot store and earn 2% back on all purchases plus receive coupons and promos by mail during the year.  They hold a teacher appreciation event, typically in early August, with special sales and giveaways just for educators with ID.

IKEA – IKEA stores are holding events throughout July and August.  These events vary from location to location, but many include special sales, goody bags, and free meals or treats.

Lakeshore Learning – Sign up for the Teacher’s Club program and receive 15% off your purchases every day.  During their August Back-to-School sales, you can save 20% off of most items, and you’ll receive a free plan book with your $20+ purchase.
