Our September Menu Plan reflects our busy lifestyle - scouts, school, and life in general really get moving in September, so its time to be organized and have a plan to make it all happen.

September means back to school, back to scouts, and back to being super busy.  This morning, I sat down with a blank September calendar and put all of the various activities and events that we are expected to go to and realized that we have plans for 16 our of 30 days in September!  Dates for school events haven’t been announced yet, and I still have to schedule a few doctors appointments for the children and I, so its only going to get busier.

September Meal & Food Goals

  1. I’m allowing 2 nights of unscheduled take-out.  I am hopeful that we won’t need it, but I’m not going to beat myself up if it happens.
  2. I would like to do 1 big shopping trip this weekend, and then only pick up produce, bread, and dairy each week.  We will see how that goes.
  3. Before grocery shopping, we need to clean out the freezers and see what we have where.  I don’t want to over shop and buy more groceries than we can store.
  4. This is the final month for local peaches, so I need to pick up peaches from Schober Orchards for canning, pie filling, and jam to last us through the year.
  5. We will opt for meal planning help from the grocery store instead of from carry out.  We had a lot of luck with the few frozen meals we picked up from Trader Joe’s, so while they aren’t on the menu, I want to have a few on hand just in case.

A New Tradition

My daughter has announced that Girl Scout night is now Pizza Night.  Instead of swinging by the local shop, we will throw a pizza in the oven and eat dinner before Girl Scouts each Wednesday evening.  My husband doesn’t like pizza, so we need to make sure to have enough leftovers on hand for him or a convenient alternative.

Love the ideas! I actually only meal plan 2 x a year! I wrote a post about it! I”ll have to link it up on next months country fair blog party. Because I know that sounds crazy, but it’s super easy and flexible at the same time. Dr. Pepper BBQ chicken sounds great! I may have to try that one! Thanks for sharing and inspiring as you do at country fair.. we love having you link up each month!
