At the start of the year, I was just planning out dinners. Through out February, I began planning out 3 meals per day, and some snacks for the week. Now as we move into March, my goal is to plan specific meals for specific days. The more planning I can take care of ahead of time, the less I need to actually think about our meals during the week, which will make my life so much easier.
I am still going to plan breakfasts and lunches as a more general “this is what we have” than say what we are having on specific days. First thing in the morning, and even through lunchtime, we need more flexibility in our meals than we do at dinner time.
Weekly Meal Plan: February 29-March 6
- Banana Bread
- Rainbow Smoothies
- Tuna Melts
- Pita, Veggies, and Hummus
- Scrambled Eggs & Toast
- Monday – Chicken Sandwiches, Cole Slaw, Chips
- Tuesday – Grilled Chicken, Potatoes, Corn
- Wednesday – Pasta Marinara, Garlic Bread
- Thursday – Quiche & Salad
- Friday – Sizzling Garlic Shrimp (blackened cod for my husband), Rice, Salad, Bread
- Saturday – Chicken Cordon Bleu, Rice, String Beans
- Sunday – Steak Frites, Homemade Bread, Roasted Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts
Beyond the Meal Plan
I just purchased 2 bushels of apples that need to be cooked down and canned as homemade applesauce. I am also hoping to can a few quarts of homemade apple pie filling, and possibly a few pints of fruit mincemeat.
This week, we also need to make a few snacks to have on hand. The children have been asking for muddy buddies, so I’m thinking that will be on the top of my list. Following that will probably be cookies of some variety. I have also really been wanting to make homemade bread, and for some reason I haven’t in a very long time. This week, that is going to change.
What’s on your meal plan for the upcoming week?
