FRUGAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS WEEK OF JANUARY 25-31
I bartered home made banana bread in exchange for haircuts for my boys. I love that we can trade items that we each want/need.
We have avoided eating all of the Girl Scout cookies that we currently have on hand – My daughter is a Daisy, and is currently selling cookies. We are doing a great job not wiping out the entire supply of cookies we have on hand, unlike last year where I think
the kids we opened a few to many boxes.
I have been spending a lot of time planning out our garden for the upcoming year, and figuring out what we want to grow so that we can save money on groceries through out the year. We have also added a canning plan with the number of jars of each item we want to have on hand. While it isn’t saving us money at the moment, long term the savings will be HUGE! I can’t wait!
A friend gave me a case of mushrooms and several oranges that she wouldn’t be able to eat or process before they spoiled.
When I grocery shopped this past week, I purchased six convenience food meals. While these aren’t the healthiest options, they are quick and easy, and they are a better choice than ordering take out – significantly cheaper too considering one night of take out runs us around $35 or more for our family of five.
I made homemade chicken stock, which I then used in recipes through out the week.
I printed coupons for bread, baby wipes, and cereal. These items are on sale at ShopRite starting yesterday, so I was able to get each at a really good deal and stock up for the month.
Aldi has eggs on sale for only 99¢ per dozen! This is the lowest I’ve seen in a really long time. They didn’t have a limit, but I am limited on fridge space, so I only got 4 dozen.
What did you do to save money last week?
